I work with people who are hurting physically and emotionally.
Through psychotherapy and somatic coaching, I help them process, make new meaning, and make changes to support who they are in the context of their lives. I have a special interest in creating healing and learning spaces to work with stress and trauma in adult individuals who find themselves in transitional spaces and as such experience isolation and social marginalization.
Structured study, research and personal experiences led me to find that transformation and changes can happen, amongst a few other things, with the help of movement, breath, sensation and and the consistent practice of present moment awareness. I believe our bodies (and moving our bodies) are medicine. Time and again, I have seen the power of intentional personal work to bring about change in one's life. Few things bring me more joy than to witness people in their process of healing and transformation!
The work I do as a therapist and somatic coach is greatly influenced and formed by the learning I've done over the years. Some of this learning unfolded under the guidance of my direct mentors (my teachers) in educational settings like graduate school coursework, research, academic readings and seminars and some in specialized post-graduate trainings and workshops. Much of this learning continues under the guidance of indirect mentors, like authors, researchers and mental health practitioners whom I keep following through their books, conference presentations, trainings and talks. This continues to add to my professional growth and understanding of my role as a facilitator of healing. Please check out my readings page under the resources tab and see if anything peeks your interest! We live in such exciting times of research and knowledge being available to us in more than just one way!
I was born and grew up under the totalitarian communist regime of the Socialist Republic of Romania. I immigrated to the US when I was almost 30 years old. This experience of group oppression shaped me and informs me in regards to power dynamics and intersectionality in a way that is unique and relevant to our human experience living in systems of power.
I speak English and Romanian.
